About
Garry is an involved and passionate hobby photographer residing in Brisbane, Australia. Even at an early age he was drawn to photography, inspired by his father’s work taken with a “Zeiss Icon Nettar”. Garry grew up in Switzerland and has always moved through life with some camera gear, back then with a Minolta X700 film camera.
Only in recent years things have changed with the change to digital. Garry has found a new enjoyment in composing and looking at his images on the computer.
“I see so much more in them than I ever did when using film. I am steadily working on turning things more serious and try to find the unusual in usual while having time to explore ideas as the shoot unfolds. Admittedly I put a lot of effort into a scene to get the unusual and often unseen angles, perspectives and lighting for the effect that I’m after. When I look through the viewfinder, I often feel as though I enter the world of my subject.”
Garry’s preferred playground is our wonderful country Australia. The great thing about photography is that it can be a great compliment to other interests. A number of trips to remote Outback locations and National Parks sparked an interest in the great outdoors.
“The beauty of creation, nature, invokes such a curiosity in me I can’t help but explore new and exciting places to capture those moments of unimaginable perfection. I seem to be drawn most to Landscape and Seascape genres of shooting but do not stop exploring other areas of photography as well.”
